Today's "art" features the main characters from the comic IamARG. Andy asked me if I wanted to do a drawing for his upcoming book, and I was more than happy to oblige. Come to thing about it, ARG is something that should be in the link section.

Here's a drawing that just kinda happened this morning as I was warming up the 'ol drawing hand for the day. I thought it might make a nice wallpaper for you guys.

I tend to get into moods with these illustrations, first it was summer, then dark stuff, so I'm trying to mix the pattern up a bit. Guy haven't shown much of an art interest in the comic, but if she had an artist side to her she'd probably be into the urban arts.

The gang is Scooby-Dooing it up, but are they solving mysteries, or creating them? You might remember the dog from this comic strip.

After all the summery Illustrations I've drawn lately, I wanted to try doing something dark and moody, the result is what you see before you. It makes a decent wallpaper I find, for those of you that feel so inclined to purpose it as such.

I'm trying to keep up this art creating, it seems like the theme for my recent illustrations is "summer" doesn't it? I'm not sure why that is really, maybe the lush summery landscape outside my studio window is enticing me subconsciously. Now available as a print.

Maybe you've noticed, but I've been on a roll with the arting lately. Today I had to go up super early to finish up some last minute work that still lingered around from the workweek. And instead of heading back to bed once that was done, this happened. I'm pretty tired as I write this, but if I go to bed now, it'll be Monday when I wake up, and that's not a very appealing sleep incentive. Better to cram some enjoyment out of these last few hours of weekend.

The other day I was doodling, but really wanting to be outside and doing summery things, aka "drinking beer". Unfortunately it was raining at the time. It might've been a tough choice between drinking inside or drawing, but luckily I'm somewhat of a multitasker. Really though, this artwork started out as one of those rare (for me at least) unplanned dealios. If you're an artist, or even just dabble in arting, you probably know what I'm talking about. It started out as a loose sketch that I had no plans to commit to, but then suddenly, almost without being conscious of the process, it was inked and colored.

When Dave asked me for a guest strip I could not refuse, I'm a fan of his comic Mercworks. Sadly his comic is currently not getting nearly the attention it deserves, so be sure to browse his archive, you might like it!

Last weekend I had some free time to do whatever I wanted, I could catch a movie or two, do some gaming, or go outside and play in the sun! But what I ended up doing is the drawing you see here. OK It didn't take me the whole weekend, I DID play games, and I did watch movies, but I swear, I did not go outside! Anyway it's been a while since I drew something just because I felt like it, it was nice. I remember a time when that was all that I did. Don't get me wrong, I like drawing even when I "have to" (most of the time) but it was liberating to know I could just up and quit at any time without consequences. Besides, It ended up not being a total waste of creative energy as the work is now available as a print for anybody that feels inclined to make the purchase.
